Foundation of
Gallina Blanca,

Lluís Carulla i Canals founds Gallina Blanca, installed in Barcelona’s central boulevard, Passeig de Gràcia.

1948

Star foundation

Star was born in 1948, when Regolo Fossati founded the factory in Brianza. Star is the translation of his wife’s name, Stella Pogliani.

1965

Start of the Food Service activity

Creation of the foodservice division specifically for the catering and hotel market.

1973

Beginning of the international activity (Africa)

Start of the subsidiary in Holland (GranFood)

2007

Two leading companies, Gallina Blanca and Star, become one group.

2017

Significant growth in Africa

Growing portfolio in Africa with well-known local brands like Gino, Pomo, Jago and Bama.

2019

Acquisition of Continental Foods, enhancing the business in Europe.

Entering into Germany, France, Belgium, Finland and Sweden with leader local brands.

GBfoods strengthens its presence in Africa

GBfoods buys 49% of its African business from Helios.
